Chain of Hearts- The Mother Ship

Chain of Hearts- Ceropegia Woodii

Isn't this plant beautiful?
We love this girl. She has grown a lot in less than a year. She started a little sad but perked up quite quickly. A friend who was moving overseas sold this plant and J was the lucky girl who bought her. To give the plant a helping hand she pulled off anything that looked dead then stuck all the round balls (potatoes) into the soil. Roots grow from these balls and the plants store their water there. She popped her on a plant stand near a window and she just GREW.

In March 2017 it looked like this.

Now in January 2018.

We took on the challenge of repotting this plant recently. It was growing onto the ground and had lots of potatoes on the top. We also gave this beautiful plant a hair cut as there are small children around this plant and we didn't want it getting pulled over.
Yes we chopped her!
We were a little terrified as it was a big plant and had been so happy all year. This was a big job and with four young children it took us all day.

So what do you think of her new do? Bit of a bob.

We then untangled all the bits we cut off and popped them in jars of water so they can grow roots and so we can grow more plants.

Thankfully the chain of hearts was super happy in its new pot and is showing new shoots all over.

This plant lives in an east facing window that receives a little bit of direct sun each day. It is watered about once a week or if the soil is dry. This is a large plant and its up take of water is fast. This plant does need more water than other succulents but like many plants doesn't like to be wet for too long.
